What is the difference between managed keys and BYOK?

With managed keys, Mycelis handles API key management—you pay token costs through Mycelis, with no OpenAI/Anthropic account required. With BYOK, you add your own key; costs are billed through your provider account, and Mycelis routes and logs the traffic.

Do I need to create an OpenAI account?

No. With managed keys, Mycelis handles full key management. You only need a Mycelis account.

Are my prompts stored?

Mycelis does not permanently store prompt content. Only metadata (timestamp, token count, model, cost) is stored for the usage dashboard.

Can I combine managed keys and GPU instances?

Yes. VirtualModels (smart routing) lets you automatically route requests between managed keys and your own GPU instances based on length or context.
